Bufo Alvarius
(5-MeO-DMT)
Some medicines guide you gently. This one obliterates the map.
A Bufo 5-MeO-DMT journey is one of the most powerful states a human being can enter. Many speak of it as meeting God, as becoming everything, as the most real thing they have ever felt. Illusions are abruptly shattered, stories about ourselves are rewritten in real time, and powerful insights are received that continue to unfold over weeks or months. This is not a recreational experience and it is not for everyone. If you feel drawn here, I would invite you to sit with that intuition before reaching out. The medicine tends to find the people who are ready, and readiness is something we will explore together before anything else.
How I Work With This Medicine
I do not offer Bufo as a standalone event. What I offer is a therapeutic process that supports your body, mind and spirit from beginning to end.
Every person who comes to this work goes through a thorough screening process. I review health history, current medications, psychiatric history, and your personal intentions for seeking this experience. There are absolute contraindications that make this medicine unsafe, and I take those seriously. I will never attempt to convince someone to move forward if I have any concerns about their readiness or safety.
We meet well in advance of your ceremony to ensure proper preparation. These are not formalities — they are part of the medicine work itself. Arriving prepared, grounded, and informed changes everything about what is possible inside the experience.
On the day of ceremony, I am present with you the entire time. The acute phase of Bufo is brief — typically between fifteen and forty-five minutes — but the nervous system requires time and care before and after. You will not be rushed. You will not be left alone.
Integration support follows in the days and weeks after.
For many people, this is where the real work begins.
What the Experience May Feel Like
Unlike psilocybin or ayahuasca, Bufo tends to strip away the story entirely. What many people encounter is a sudden and complete interruption of the ordinary sense of self — not frightening so much as immense. An opening. A homecoming of the spirit that is hard to put into words once you return.
The return itself is a tender and important moment. Some people come back laughing. Some sob. Some are simply still for a long time. All of it is honored and welcomed.
What happens in the days that follow varies. Some people feel lighter, clearer, more present than they have in years. Some feel raw and need gentle tending. Some find that old patterns they have carried for decades quietly lose their grip. The integration period is not separate from the ceremony — it is the ceremony continuing to move through you.
This Work May Be For You If…
You have been in therapy or done inner work and feel called to go deeper
You are navigating a significant life transition, loss, or crossroads
You are working with chronic patterns — depression, anxiety, grief, disconnection — that have not responded to other approaches
You feel a genuine and clear pull toward this medicine and want to approach it with care and respect
You are in good physical and mental health and willing to engage in preparation and integration
This Work Is Not For You If…
You have a personal or family history of psychosis, schizophrenia, or certain mood disorders.
You have significant cardiovascular conditions.
You have a heart condition.
You are seeking a quick fix, an escape, or a peak experience for its own sake.
You want depth without losing control of the narrative.
You’re here for the “postable” moment.
You have not explored other healing pathways yet.
You are not willing or able to engage in the preparation and integration process.
If you are unsure, the best place to start is a conversation. I would rather spend an hour on a discovery call and tell you honestly that this is not the right time than rush anyone into something they are not prepared for.
A Note on the Toad

A Note on the Toad |
Bufo Alvarius
(5-MeO-DMT)
The secretion used in Bufo ceremony comes from the Bufo alvarius toad, a species native to the Sonora Desert of northern Mexico. These animals are living beings who belong to the land, and the ethics of their treatment matter deeply to me. The toad population has been significantly threatened by over-harvesting. In my practice I use only responsibly and ethically sourced medicine. I will not work with practitioners or sources who treat these animals carelessly.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
They are related but distinct. 5-MeO-DMT and N,N-DMT are different compounds with very different effects. 5-MeO-DMT — the active compound in Bufo — tends to produce a non-visual, non-narrative experience of ego dissolution. N,N-DMT (the active compound in ayahuasca, for example) is typically more visual, symbolic, and narrative. People often describe 5-MeO-DMT as more vast and less personal.

When approached with proper screening, preparation, and skilled support, risks can be significantly reduced. There are real contraindications — medical, psychiatric, and pharmacological — and I take them seriously. This is part of why I require supervision calls before any ceremony. No responsible practitioner can promise that any medicine work is without risk. What I can promise is that your safety is my first concern, always.
-
Preparation includes dietary guidelines in the days leading up to ceremony, refraining from certain substances and medications, and at least one preparation call with me. I will send you detailed instructions after your intake.
-
I work with individuals and occasionally with couples. This work deserves individual attention and care.
-
The acute experience is typically fifteen to forty-five minutes. However, the day itself is much longer — preparation, grounding, rest, and post-session support are all part of what I offer. You should plan to be with me for several hours and to have a quiet, restful remainder of the day.
-
Not necessarily, though some prior experience with inner work — whether through therapy, meditation, or other medicines — can be helpful. What matters most is honest self-reflection, a genuine intention, and a willingness to be prepared. We will talk through your history together.
-
Difficult experiences happen. They are not failures. Sometimes what feels hardest in the moment carries the most medicine. My job is to hold the space safely and steadily regardless of what arises, and to support you in integrating whatever comes up long after the ceremony is over. You will not be navigating this alone.

Honestly? If you are asking that question with sincerity, you are probably closer than you think. Readiness is not the absence of fear — it is the presence of genuine intention. Book a discovery call and we will figure it out together.
